How do you detect that you have a deficiency?

It’s like when you’re about to fall ill with malaria (for example), for most persons there’s usually a telltale sign. It’s either there’s a case of consistent headache, body weakness, and for some, a blister forms just by the mouth. What’s your sign?

[7] Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord [with reverent awe and obedience] and turn [entirely] away from evil.

[8] It will be health to your body [your marrow, your nerves, your sinews, your muscles—all your inner parts] And refreshment (physical well-being) to your bones.

Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭‭(‭AMP‬‬)

Recently, I had some issues with a blister in my mouth and it came very pronounced. I had no sign, it gave no warning beforehand, it just came with a wave of pain that got me wondering how to overcome or deal with a situation that didn’t give a warning.

It was tough to chew food and so I started cutting down on meals. I became scared of what it could develop into but I knew better than checking online for possible diagnoses.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].

2 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭7 ‭‭‬(AMP‬‬)

Right in that moment, I knew I had to ask people in my immediate environment at the time if they knew the cause for the issue and if they knew any treatment for it. They gave their opinions and also suggestions, most of which were in the same direction. They also proffered solutions which I decided to implement.

In the midst of all that, the fear I had gradually started to drop.

Why?

I knew what it was, the cause and then the treatment to ensure it doesn’t show up unannounced anymore. Soon enough, the blister was gone as I stayed consistent at using solutions I got from wise counsel.

Where there is no [wise, intelligent] guidance, the people fall [and go off course like a ship without a helm], But in the abundance of [wise and godly] counselors there is victory.

Proverbs‬ ‭11‬:‭14 ‭‭‬(AMP‬‬)

Now, the key reason why the fear dissipated was because of the knowledge I had. I leveraged the expertise and experience of people around me.

I hear people go against anything that has to do with vulnerability because they have been hurt in the past or probably because of firsthand experience people in their lives went through. It’s okay to be sensitive but there should always be a balance. What if someone in your corner has the solution to a long term issue you’ve been facing?

Over time, I’ve noticed the presence of knowledgeable and experienced people in the lives of people who are living successful lives and even in the best of organizations all over the world. In these setups, once there’s an issue, there’s always a solution around the corner.

As a believer, how often do you leverage the person of the Holy Spirit?

But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.

John‬ ‭14‬:‭26 ‭‭‬(AMP‬‬)

The Holy Spirit should be your first point of call once there’s an issue. He is wisdom Himself and experience resides in Him because He has been in existence even before the beginning of time. This spells out that He is the perfect person to call to – and you don’t need to book an appointment!

Just speak to Him and He will listen.
