God’s Peculiar Beloved.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

The verse above entails how God created all human beings, each in their own unique/ peculiar way and with none as a (complete) photocopy of the other.

The word ‘peculiar’ denotes something uncommon to others but common to a particular entity or situation.

God created us as original versions of Himself to fulfil a certain purpose on earth, and for one to function well, there are guidelines to follow. Some of these are general rules of daily living (clearly stated commands in the Bible), while there are specific rules relayed to us per time by the Holy Spirit’s leadings.

Some examples of this in scripture include:

Samson; who was asked not to shave his hair and he was victorious until he flouted his specific rules of destiny.

Prophet Hosea; who was asked by God to marry a harlot (Gomer) for a purpose only God had decided. (If the news like Hosea’s was to break out in our present days, some individuals – including church members – would have judged and condemned him, unaware of the agreement between Hosea and God, who was only using that as a message to Israel.)

Moses became 80 years old before he began to fulfil destiny, meanwhile Joseph started at age 30.

David was, at a tender age, left in the bush alone with animals, forgotten by enemies he called his family, but God used that lonely season to train him for the palace life, and Joseph also had to pass through betrayals, suffering for a sin he didn’t committed before he was being enthroned.

If David, Moses and Joseph were friends in our present days where the social media is aiding us to live a life of comparison, Moses would probably have been crying that God is delaying his destiny, moving from mountain to mountain, because Joseph and David have progressed past him, instead of realising that each individual faced challenges and training periods peculiar to their destiny.

God has created every one of His children for a reason peculiar to each of them. If one wants to become extraordinary or set the pace, it is ideal not to experience the usual challenges or experiences others do. Expect a new ‘devil’ to contend with.

The more strategic the destiny, the more emphasis placed on making and training of such a person as a ready vessel, so as to ensure the purposes of God are not frustrated.
